URGENT UNDO

YUSUKE KOSHIJIMA [2008, Film/Animation/Video]

Based in Tokyo, Japan

With the spread of fast fashion as a global trend, the replacement cycle of clothing has become short. Although many clothes are manufactured with a great environmental load in the manufacturing process, they are immediately thrown away, and many are incinerated. Urgent Undo has developed a new material to improve the social issues in the fashion industry. First, we started the upcycling of the scraps produced in the process of manufacturing denim, returned those scraps to cotton, made them into sheets using the papermaking technology used in Japanese paper manufacturing, and hardened them with paint to make a material like marble. Urgent Undo is a furniture brand created by the world’s top furniture craftsmen using these materials. Currently, it is possible to manufacture this material from suits and sweaters as well as denim, and the colors are dark blue, light blue, black suits, and white sweaters. In the future, Urgent Undo would like to collaborate with various fashion brands and manufacturers so that they can use these materials as their upcycling mechanism.
