Sarah Rockower makes atmospheric abstract paintings. Using a variety of media including acrylic, gouache, and pencil, Rockower pours, smears, smudges and applies paint in a range of speed across paper or canvas. Revealing pieces of detail from nature, varied shapes are scattered throughout a bleeding ambiance of color and texture. Within the play between large organic spills of paint and carefully placed brushstrokes, a sense of conversation and movement is revealed.
