NANCY WYLLIE [1977, Master of Art Education]
Based in North Kingstown, RI
Inspired by observations of the sea throughout Central America, the Caribbean, and in Rhode Island where her studio overlooks the Atlantic, these paintings capture the play of light and movement on the surface of the ocean and in its depths. Materials include archival, acid-free Arches paper on 2″ deep contemporary box mounts as well as oil and acrylic on canvas. Her work is in numerous public and private collections and was recently purchased by a collector at the Museum of Fine Art in Boston at an annual MFA fundraiser. In May 2021, ‘Observatory’ was acquired by the Newcomb Art Museum at Tulane University.
